Growing up in Northern California, I learned early on the importance of living a balanced lifestyle. My mom kept the fridge stocked with fresh produce, weekends were spent hiking in the Marin Headlands with my dad, and a quick drive across the Golden Gate Bridge would immerse me in the vibrant culture of San Francisco. The phrase "health is wealth" was a staple in our household, embodying a philosophy that went beyond exercise and nutrition to include connecting with the people and places around you and staying in tune with yourself.
At 16, after transitioning from competitive soccer, I discovered Pilates as a new way to stay fit. With only an old yoga mat and some 80s-era ankle weights from my mom, I began practicing mat Pilates on my bedroom floor, guided by YouTube videos. The transformation I experienced—both physically and mentally—sparked a deep mind-body connection that has shaped my approach to wellness.
My journey continued in Los Angeles, where the health and wellness culture is contagious. I immersed myself in astrology, spiritual practices, and tried all the wacky wellness trends you hear rumors about. Later, when I moved to London for college (or Uni, as the Brits would say), I was shocked when I couldn't find a workout class that connected and worked both my body and mind. This led me to create my own wellness sanctuary in my flat. I returned to my Pilates roots, blending spiritual practice with physical exercise in a way that harmonized mind, body, and spirit.
Now based in Bali, I am a trained SCOTT Pilates instructor and the founder of Balance by Brooke. My platform offers holistic Pilates classes that go beyond traditional fitness, providing live sessions you can join from anywhere in the world. I look forward to seeing you on your mat and helping you discover your own balance.
